USE OF EXPERT SYSTEM FOR BEAM DIAGNOSTICS

The purpose of this report is to show the possibility of application of
artificial intelligence methods, in partcular expert system, for beam
diagnostics. Beam diagnostics is a complex process of gathering, processing and
representation of various information about beam by means of computer tools. A
successful solving of these problems is necessary for effective management of
accelerators not only during the operation, but also during assembling and
tuning; for development of Control Systems, for increasing their operation
reliability, improvement of metrologics etc. An expert system is capable to
solve the task of analysis, choice and design of beam monitors for Accelerator
Controls in accordance with their purposes, tecnical specifications, working
conditions and choice criteria. The presented system runs on the PC/AT base, it
provides intelligent support of all design stages of Control Systems and their
operation process as well. The report presents basic results and the detailed
design of the integrated expert system.
