VEPP-4 accelerator facility consists of a 350 MeV electron/positron
injector, a 2 GeV storage ring VEPP-3 and a 6 GeV collider VEPP-4M. The VEPP-4
control system includes twelve CAMAC embedded 24-bit in-house developed
computers ODRENOK, interconnected in a star network. The central node supports
inter-task communications and file server functions. Real time interactions
between some computers are based on point-to-point interfaces. Equipment
control electronics is implemented mostly in CAMAC (nearly 60 crates).
Multitasking real time in-house developed OS allows to run up to 10 tasks with
fast dynamic change of core image. The control of VEPP-4 is provided by
simultaneously processing more than 50 tasks. PC's are used as operator
consoles, for data processing, as printer servers, and back-up system as
well.
