Real-Time Networking Made Possible with
the Fast Data Link

Creative Electronic Systems
With the advent of new networking protocols and networking techniques,
"determinism", the primary requirement for Real-Time systems, is not given
enough consideration especially in the area of Open Systems. The Fast Data
Link, with its advanced concept and Real-Time features, is bringing to Open
Systems a faster, more reliable and easier to integrate network and data mover
than most of today's existing solutions. Based on copper and/or optical fibre
connection, the Fast Data Link can efficiently and autonomously move data
to/from VME or PCI based systems. It also offers data broadcasting, remote VME
or PCI services, global clock synchronization, smart data management and many
other functions. This off-the-shelf product is capable of providing today
sustained transfer rates in excess of 50 Mbytes/s and up to 200 Mbytes/s
in the near future. The Fast Data Link concept, operation and performance are
presented along with the systems architecture techniques using the Fast Data
Link.
