3. Preferred software for paper preparation

LaTex 2e and Microsoft WORD 6.0 are preferred by the Organizing Commi- ttee. If there are no LaTex or WORD, please submit your paper in form of ASCII file.

3.1 Using LaTex

We hope authors use LaTex 2e together with the Times package. Full page width tables and figures can be obtained by using the figure* and table* environments. Graphics can be incorporated using the epsfig package. This command allows resizing and rotation of the graphics, which should be in Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format. Instructions and templates are also available via WWW or by FTP, in either case authors should select and download the template for the LaTex that are used for text processor. WWW: connect to the ICALEPCS'97 home page and follow the links Templates. FTP: connect by FTP to 202.38.128.58 and access the user: paper97,direc- tory "paper97\Template". The filtemplate.tex in this directory con- tains a description of the Template files.

3.2 Using WORD

We hope authors use Microsoft WORD 6.0. If you use OFFICE 97 or WORD 7.0 on your PC computer, please save your paper as a WORD 6.0 document, and turn off the word "Fast Save" option , so that it is easy to read It is acceptable for authors to use Macintosh WORD 5.2 or 5.1 to prepare their papers. Full page width tables and figures can be created by inserting a new section with the appropriate total width (160mm). Using an illustra- tion (graph, etc.) which has been saved in the Encapsulated PostScript format gives better resolution in the final document because it will scale properly under zooming. Most applications allow one to save a gra- phic or image in EPS format, so this is recommended.
