Progress in perturbation theory depends on the one hand on better
algorithms that make the calculations more compact. But much improvement
has always be obtained by increased computer power. One bottleneck is the
manpower involved in the derivation of the formulas needed in the computer
programs. Calculations have to be done for existing accelerators and often
one cannot wait for potentially more efficient and compact future
algorithms. The question becomes then how we can have the computers help us
constructing the programs. I will discuss this issue and show some
similarities between this problem and elements of game theory.
