                  KEK theory center workshop on
High-energy hadron physics with hadron beams
             Seminar Hall, Building No.3 (San-Gou-Kan)
             January 6 - 8, 2010, KEK, Tsukuba, Japan

The workshop on high-energy hadron physics with hadron beams will be
held from January 6 to January 8, 2010 at KEK, Tsukuba, Japan. This
workshop is intended to discuss topics on high-energy hadron physics
with the high-momentum hadron beams at J-PARC and related facilities
such as Fermilab, GSI-FAIR, and CERN-COMPASS. The J-PARC is an
accelerator complex with a 30 (50) GeV main ring for high-intensity
proton beam (http://j-parc.jp/index-e.html). The Phase-1 construction
has already been completed, and the beam operation has started.

The workshop topics include
* hadron properties in nuclear medium,
* partonic structures of nucleon and nuclei,
* QCD and hard processes with hadron beams,
* other physics opportunities with polarized and unpolarized hadron beams.

The goal of the workshop is to discuss exciting hadron physics programs
which can be pursued at J-PARC and other hadron facility. If you are
interested in participating in this workshop, please send the attached
registration form by email (and please register from a KEK web site
if you are Japanese). We have some funds to cover domestic travel and
local expenses for participants, particularly young researchers.

Proceedings, presentations
We do not publish proceedings; however, presentations will be posted
online. Please provide us the pdf or ppt file of your presentation
during the workshop. If your pdf or ppt file is ready before the workshop,
please send it to hadron-th09(AT)ml.post.kek.jp (AT)--->@.

(2) Please make your KEK-web registration as explained in the document
If you need KEK support, please proceed the web registration
by assuming the support. We will decide the support just after
the deadline (Dec. 6) and will inform you.

Registration fee
The registration fee is 4000-yen (3000-yen for graduate students
and postdocs), including the fee for a get-together party and coffee.
The payment should be done at the registration desk at the workshop
site with CASH (Japanese Yen) only.

The KEK dormitory is closed for renovation during the workshop.
Limited number of rooms are allocated in the nearest hotel
(Urban hotel) to KEK.
NOTE: Please make your own hotel reservation by sending an email
message to the following address.
Please mention "KEK hadron workshop" for the 5% discount room rate.
Email: yoyaku(AT)urbanhotel.co.jp      (AT)--->@
Please mention "KEK hadron workshop" for the reduced rate.
If you make the reservation from the above web page, the reduced
rate is not available. In any case, rooms would not be available
from the web in Jan.5-8 because many single rooms are taken for
the workshop.

*** For Japanese participants ***
You may try to make a reservation at the Urban hotel.
You could find an alternative hotel information at
if a room in the Urban hotel is not available or if you prefer
to stay at another hotel.

*** For graduate students ***
Even if the KEK support is provided, it is not sufficient
enough to cover the hotel expense at the Urban hotel.
You may consider to stay, for example, at
Tsukuba Kenshu center TEL: 029-851-5152
or other inexpensive hotels at

Visitor information, travel
You may look at the following web pages:
http://www.kek.jp/ja/access/index.html (Japanese).

Please read the access information from the Narita airport at

For example, if you arrive at the Narita international airport,
you need to take a bus from the Narita airport to the Tsukuba center
Then, you may take a bus
or you may take a taxi to the hotel. The taxi cost is about 3000 yen.
It would be a good idea to show the map of the hotel to the taxi driver
by printing out the access information page of the hotel web.
