During the course of decades-long development toward ILC, accelerator technology using superconducting radio frequency (SRF),
essential to realize an electron-positron linear collider,
has been improved significantly and the technology in recent years has been so mature that a variety of innovative accelerators
have been built based on this technology. Examples include X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFEL) for materials and life sciences
and (heavy) ion accelerators for nuclear physics experiments and for neutron generation, which is underpinning diverse
industrial applications such as medical diagnosis and treatment. Continuing efforts, in particular the US-Japan task
force dedicated to cost reduction, to achieve higher performance with less cost are in progress around the world.
In this symposium, the state-of-the-art SRF accelerator technology as well as science and innovation explored with
this technology will be presented by prominent researchers from all over the world.
