Joint US-CERN-Japan-Russia Accelerator School

Introduction to Particle Accelerators -
Fuji, Shizuoka, Japan, October 23-31, 2013

Course Description

This course will provide introductory lectures of particle accelerators for students and starters, including engineers in related industry. Subjects are chosen from fundamental beam dynamics and electromagnetism to typical applications of accelerators.

Participants can make discussion closely with first-class lecturers all over the world (see the program and the syllabus). They will stay at the same accommodation as the participants.

Registration

Registration is neccesary.

Regular registration fee (single room): 170,000 JPY *1
Student registration fee (shared room): 120,000 JPY *2

*1: This fee includes single room charge and full board throughout the course starting with the evening meal on Wednesday, October 23 and finishing with lunch on Thursday, October 31. Excursions, transportation from Fuji to KEK, and Lab. tours are included. Maximum about 35 rooms will be available.

Scholarships

Scholarships will be available to a number of students and young scientist.

Those who need the scholarship should send an application form from the school web site. Also all applicants are required to submit his/her supervisor’s recommendation letter to the organizing committee of JAS'13 by e-mail at JAS'13@kek.jp.

The application deadline of the scholarship is Friday, June 14, 2013.

School site

The school will be held at:

The site is at the foot of Mt. Fuji, about 100 km south-west from Tokyo. It takes about 2.5 hours from Narita Airport by trains. The venue is in a fantastic nature at the foot of Mt. Fuji, close to small hot spas. The last two days of the school will be held in KEK. All participants are supposed to travel from Fuji to KEK by bus.
