Excursion

We plan to have an excursion in the afternoon of Thursday, November 15th. We have 4 different courses. We ask you to choose your favorite course from the web site at

The courses are
  1. Tsukuba Space Center of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Belle-II, KEK
    We visit the exhibition of the Tsukuba Space Center of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and then the Belle-II experiment at the Tsukuba Campus of KEK.
  2. Local Sake Brewery and Mt. Tsukuba
    We visit a sake brewery (Inaba Sake Brewery) located at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba where we can test wonderful Japanese sake. Then we go to Mt. Tsukuba (wiki page), where we can go up to the top by a cable car if the weather allows.
  3. Soba noodle cooking
    We try to make soba noodles from buckwheat flour under advice by local people at the village of "Ono no Komachi", a famous beautiful woman in the 9th century. After cooking, we can enjoy short walking with the environment of a typical Japanese country side [see pictures of village of Ono no Komachi (in Japanese)].
  4. Kashima-Jingu Shrine and Historical Edo-taste Downtown of Sawara
    Kashima-Jingu Shrine is a historical place which is thought to have had an important role when Japan was united in ancient times about 1500 years ago. After visiting the shrine, we go to the downtown of Sawara, where we can enjoy atmosphere of the Edo era.
The courses A, B, and C have the maximum number of the participants. They are on the first-come first-served basis. Your earlier response is requested. Lunch boxes will be served to the participants of the excursion.
